 Chicago Piano Tuning Customers

Chicago Piano Moving Customer

A few recent customer comments about our piano tuning/repair services:

- We had just completed work on my Steinway Model 1098. For a very reasonable price he replaced the hammers, upper strings and regulated, toned and overhauled the entire piano. I am so pleased with the result I now think that the piano had never been set up properly!!! Thanks to his meticulously careful work, I now have what feels and sounds like a brand new Steinway. I shall have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone. Many thanks

Carol L. Glen Elen IL

-I had inherited an old piano that was horribly out of tune and your piano technician was wonderful. After taking his time to first clean the piano he tuned it perfectly.

J. Golan, Palos Park IL

-I'm writting to your company to tell you how happy I am with the piano tuned and repair work that Mr. Wayne Boksa had done for me. We wanted to give our older piano to our grand daughter for her piano lessons and Wayne spent 3 hours making it play like new.

5 Tips On Finding A Piano Tuner In Chicago

Considering how many piano tuners are based in Chicago, it can be difficult to know where to start when looking for one to tune your own piano. There are a few points you can consider and check in order to choose a piano tuner that is good at what he/ she does, is reliable, reasonably priced, and who provides a friendly service.
The first step in looking for a piano tuner in Chicago, is to check in your local neighborhood, with schools, churches and other societies that may have a piano. Ask them in the first instance if they have a piano, and if so, who tunes it for them. Of course, if you have friends who have pianos and use a good piano tuner they would recommend to you, that would be the best route. But if not, an organization who is using a particular tuner, and has been using them for a while, will give an excellent indication of the service and value provided by that tuner.
Never book a piano tuner without speaking with them first. You want to make sure they are friendly and easy to work with. When you speak with the tuner, ask a little about their background. You can keep it brief, but you want to find out how they feel about what they do. Apart from finding someone who is good at what they do, you want to work with someone who loves what they do. If they love their work, they will be more likely to be excellent at it, they will treat your piano with love and care, and they will have a lot more knowledge about pianos than someone who doesn't feel as passionately about their work. This is why American Music World is the best.
If the tuner hasn't been recommended to you by someone you know, book them for a paid trial, so that you are not committed long-term, and have the opportunity to see how they work, and if it is indeed a good fit. When they come to do the tuning, ask a few questions about the piano ' questions you already know the answers to ' in order to find out how enthusiastic they are about pianos (which you'll be able to tell from the way in which they answer your questions), and of course, the extent of their knowledge.
If the trial is successful, and you're happy with not only the results of the tuning itself, but also with the friendliness, customer service and passion for their work, of the tuner, you'll know you can have peace of mind going ahead and booking that tuner on an ongoing basis. If there is something that you're not happy with from the trial tuning session, you'll be able to simply go on to someone else, and book them in for a trial session. This way, you'll find the tuner who is perfect for you, and not get stuck with someone you're not completely happy and comfortable with.
Naturally, in your research, you'll need to check on the credentials and references of the tuner you're considering. Luckily, these days, with the internet, it's very easy to research someone and check up on their qualifications and any previous customer feedback. Ideally the tuner should have a website, and most of the information you need to know should be on there, but it's a good idea to do a bit of separate research as well since the website will, no doubt, have been written by the tuner. We also have tons of references upon requests and part of the Professional Piano Tuner Association
